Anthurium Great Red

It’s in the name, this Anthurium is a Great Red. Encompassing majestic rhubarb spathes with a golden spadix that bloom all year from thick stems amid large arrow-shaped leaves, this is a compact yet strong plant. If you pay attention to your Great Red and its needs it will reward you with lustrous blooms that grow in a unique shape with an intense glossy surface resembling a ruby gemstone.

PLANT ME

In a well-draining pot or container. I also love to grow in humid tropical garden locations.

KEEP ME IN

A sheltered position (preferably indoors) with some filtered light.

PUT ME OUT

On your patio as long as I get proper shade and bring me inside on the cold days and nights.

WATER ME

Once a week in the warmer months then every two or four weeks in the cooler months. A good tip is to let the top layer of soil dry out before watering again.

FEED ME

While I grow feed me once a month with a balanced (liquid or dry) fertiliser that contains a high amount of phosphorous. Remember less is more with this. Phosphorous-rich fertiliser will encourage blooms to grow. (Orchid or premium potting mix is fine)

I LIKE

A comfortable and humid environment preferably inside with you.

MY FLOWERS

Bloom intermittently all throughout the year. They have a wonderful vase life so feel free to cut them and give them to someone you love or show them off in a vase.

Planting Tips	Root-rot isn't fun, so be sure that you are not overwatering and that I am settled in a well-draining container with porous soil. Make sure my top layer is semi-dry before watering again. For indoor plants feel free to wipe me down with a damp cloth to get rid of any dust. I don't like the cold so pay attention to temperatures your find comfortable and keep me there (I am a sucker for humid weather too).
